Funding Rounds in July 2022

We summarised the largest global startup funding rounds for July 2022. We have included some additional information such as industry, round type, and total equity funding raised for the company.


Stages

The early stage continues to be the most common, but the funding decreased compared to June: $9.4 bn vs. $12 bn. The seed funding was almost on par with June (-15%). The late stage declined by 62%.

Regions

The situation has not changed much vs. last month: USA still on the 1st place, accounting for 34% of all rounds (in USD), followed by China (13%) and the UK (8%). Sweden has overcome India (6% vs. 5%). The regional division now: North America (36%), both Asia and Europe (29%).

Industries

FinTech remained the leader in terms of funds raised (19%), followed by Manufacturing (16%) with the largest round in July, HealthTech (13%), CleanTech/GreenTech (11%), and Transportation (4%).

New Funds

In July, the total AuM of newly raised funds increased by 92% and the average fund size - by 105%, while the number of new funds declined by 6.4%.


It can be explained by a great number of large funds raised: Permira Flagship Fund ($16 bn), with a focus on retail and technology, Francisco Partners VII, L.P. ($13.5 bn), Stone Point Capital Trident IX ($9 bn), European Private Loan Fund (€7 bn), and others.
