PRIVATE EQUITY MARKETS (MAY 2022)
As of May, 105 new investment funds were raised with the total capital of ~$35 bn. The largest one was raised by Nordic Capital XI ($8 bn), other new 4 funds with $4 bn size.
544 new rounds totaling ~$39 bn including post-IPO financing. About 25% were focused on the early stage, late stage and IPO each.
The USA accounted for 61% of all rounds by volume, followed by UK (26%), India (8%) and South Africa (5% due to one non-for-profit investment in Inspired, Edtech).
Division by region: North America (44%), Europe (33%), Asia (ex-MENA) (11%).
Telecommunications were leading (15%), followed by Fintech (12%), AI, ML, Data Management (10%), CleanTech (8%) and EdTech (6%).
