Abdulla Al-Ghatam

Member of the Advisory Board

Abdulla Al-Ghatam is a seasoned business executive with more than three decades of leadership experience spanning investments, financial services, fintech, government affairs, international trade, and corporate strategy.

He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Horizons Holding, a diversified holding company with investments and operating businesses across a broad range of industries. He is responsible for shaping the Group’s strategic direction, overseeing its investment portfolio, driving business growth, and strengthening governance across its subsidiaries, partnerships, and long-term investments.

Prior to joining Horizons Holding, Mr. Al-Ghatam served as Economic Affairs Advisor at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, where he advised on economic policy implementation, strategic initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory affairs. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of SADAD Electronic Payment System B.S.C., a Central Bank of Bahrain-licensed payment service provider, successfully leading the company’s growth and transformation for more than a decade. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at Ithmaar Bank in Group Business Development and Private Banking and served at Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, including as Chief of Trade Negotiations and Bilateral Relations. He also represented the Kingdom of Bahrain at the World Trade Organization in Geneva, contributing to international trade negotiations and economic policy discussions.

Mr. Al-Ghatam completed the Oxford Fintech Programme at the University of Oxford, studied at the Kogod School of Business at American University. His extensive experience across both the public and private sectors enables him to bridge government, finance, and investment perspectives, providing strategic leadership and governance in complex business environments.
